Shelter in Place: Day 44

Hello All,

Thank you for reading my blog. I started this thing almost six years ago with no real goal in mind other than to connect with people through my writing.

I am encouraged to think that this has happened and continues to happen.

Today existed. Another day of existence. I woke up and brushed Scout while singing him his morning brushing songs. “You Are My Kitten” (to the tune of “You Are My Sunshine”), “Good Morning, Starshine” (from the musical “Hair”), and “May It Be” (from the “Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring”).

I finished re-reading “The Trumpet of the Swan”.

I continued editing a short story that I’ve been banging my head against for a few months now.

I talked to a friend in New York and to my sister.

Now the sun is setting over the tops of the houses, over the unseen but ever-present ocean.

I feel so grateful to be alive. I feel so fortunate to be relatively safe. I don’t know why other people are suffering and dying and I am not. I just want to make the most of my life for as long as I have it.
