Greetings Earthlings,
Today is day 42 of shelter in place. It is also Tuesday, April 28th of the year that doesn’t exist.
Today I cleaned the living room and kitchen of the apartment. I continued to read “Wuthering Heights”. Perhaps most excitingly, I received two books with no note or return address! How exciting! I have no idea from whom they were sent, but they look to be right up my alley and I’m excited to read them.
One was a book of poetry by Yanyi. The other is a book called “The Priory of the Orange Tree” by Samantha Shannon. So to whomever sent them, thank you!
In other news, since it is the 42nd day of shelter in place, I thought I would write a little poetry in the style of the Vogons from Douglas Adams’ “Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy”. So for your reading displeasure, I present “An Odious Day in Shelter in Place”.
“An Odious Day in Shelter in Place”
The day awoke scromling
In gibblets of gorn
And slithered all ointley
Through all the dank morn.
What fritholous parchens
Do tickle the snoot
And fernlier calfronds
Did make the snoal moot?
Oh, largening bretzel!
Oh, witherless cow!
Not one woth remaining
Not even the snaow.
That is all for this day!
Very best,
LAF
